Tension is high around the Ikorodu axis, as hausa man deliberately st@bbed an iyoruba man to d@ath. There has been tension in Lara, Igbe community, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State after some Hausa thugs allegedly slaughtered a 33-year-old resident, Shola Olaide, during an argument. We learnt that after the k#lling, which occurred at about 8pm, angry youths went on the rampage threatening to k#ll all northerners in the area, which made Hausa to flee the community.

A middle-aged man, Frederick Onigbo, who committed s*icide by setting himself ablaze behind an NNPC mega station in Gwarimpa, Abuja, owed a bank and others. Frederick had doused his body with fuel and set it on fire in the bush behind the filling station on December 23, 2013, but his charred corpse was not found until five days later, after a desperate search by his wife and children. Frederick’s corpse was evacuated to the mortuary of the General Hospital, Kubwa by policemen from Gwarimpa Estate Police Division.

This is the lastest information, Prof. Ihechukwu Madubuike, Director, Igbo Renaissance at the Gregory University, Uturu (GUU), Abia, said on Saturday that the university would soon introduce the Igbo language as a compulsory course in the second year. Mr. Madubuike announced this at Uturu during the 6th edition of the Igbo (Uturu) Cultural Carnival, which held at the university. "By the next two years, the university plans to introduce the Igbo language as a compulsory subject for all students in the second year. "Whether you are Yoruba, Hausa or Efik, you must take Igbo as a compulsory subject, in spite of your area of specialisation," he said.
